Taipei restaurant – 貓空大茶壺茶餐廳 MaoKong, Big Teapot (1F)

Value for money: 7/10

Cleanliness: 6/10

Service: 7/10

Quality of food: 7/10

Overall: 7/10

I really enjoy spending time in MaoKong just sitting, relaxing, observing the busy city below, and drinking delicious tea grown in the WenShan District.

Above was one of the set meals for 3 (there were 4 of us, and there was plenty!) from the 1st floor restaurant on the main road in the Maokong area. I would strongly recommend that if you want to eat here, that you eat on the 1st floor, not the 2nd floor. 2nd floor is more of a ‘rough and ready’ style of eating, with the 1st floor seeming to offer fresher ingredients and less greasy dishes, overall.

The fried rice and the smoked chicken were great. The omelet was also surprisingly good. I wouldn’t recommend the soup, but that came as part of the set so we didn’t initially try to sub anything else out. Next time, I will sub it for a different soup, though.

Opening Times:

Recently moved out to Taiwan and don't know how to order at restaurants? I got you sorted. Can read some characters but still don't quite know what you're ordering? I got you sorted. This site has been developed to help people who can't speak or read Mandarin. I use pinyin, characters and English to talk about food ordering, and how you can do it at specific restaurants. If you like it, then give me a shout! Ash.
