Taipei breakfast – Only Toast

So you’ve seen this place on UberEats and Foodpanda, but those pics can be deceiving sometimes, can’t they?

Well, here I come to let you know my thoughts.

Oh yehhh, that’s the good sh*t right there. Butter4lyf

I do love getting a breakfast sandwich around TP. Often sometimes all I do want is just a simple sandwich even for my lunch. Yeh yeh, those 便當 are great and all, but just gimme a big juicy sarnie.

So, our order:

Thankfully it is free to 内用 (eat in) – why they feel the need to print this, I am not sure.

冰島鱈魚起司蛋 – bīng dǎo xuě yú qǐ sī dàn
Fish fillet with cheese and egg sandwich

美式厚牛起司蛋 – měi shì hòu niú qǐ sī dàn
‘American’ thick sliced beef with cheese and egg sandwich

厚純芋香牛乳 – hòu chún yù xiāng niú rǔ
Taro milk (-$5 when paired with a sandwich)

It comes and definitely gives you the impression that it is packed in to the little box and theres definitely an element of ‘overflowing’. Some would say “just put it in a bigger box”, but that wouldn’t look quite so 豐富 then, would it?

Sorry, these CSA’s are never pretty. But it does give you more of an idea.

OK, so it looks dry. I am going to address that right away. Honestly, it kind of what as a little bit. However, they’ve countered that by adding plenty of their own ketchup. Does it help? Well, yes. But ultimately, just get your beef juicier and then you don’t need quite as much sauce…

The flavours are pretty good, and the bread is great. Is it bad that I think the bread is better than the actual sandwich, itself? I don’t care. I said it. The bread wins – the sandwich doesn’t, really.

A bit better than the beef, that’s for sure. The breaded fish fillet was good, and the cheese and egg were good, too. However, I can’t get help but focus on the sauceyness of everything. My issue is that they’ve ‘done it for the gram’. They’ve put all the sauce on the top – what about the bottom? What about throughout the sandwich? You’ve missed a trick here, guys.

So, to sum up – this place has great potential because they hold the key to an incredible sandwich – the bread.
But, these two fillings just weren’t that great.

I am going to go back, for sure, but I won’t be ordering either of these two again.

Recently moved out to Taiwan and don't know how to order at restaurants? I got you sorted. Can read some characters but still don't quite know what you're ordering? I got you sorted. This site has been developed to help people who can't speak or read Mandarin. I use pinyin, characters and English to talk about food ordering, and how you can do it at specific restaurants. If you like it, then give me a shout! Ash.
