Spicy Wantons

Who doesn’t love a good wanton? I mean, really, how many times have you been to that awesom red and white wanton shop and ordered their 紅油抄手? Yeh, I know, I’ve done it countless times, too. But sometimes, you want to swtich it up. And here’s a place that can help you do that.

Here’s what we ordered:

A餐。 Set A, Shanghainese sticky rice dumpling with spicy wantons ($140)
35. 肉燥燙青菜 ($40) Boild veg with meat sauce

A餐。 Set A, Shanghainese sticky rice dumpling with spicy wantons ($140)
Alright so let’s break this down. Sticky rice dumplings are one of my favourites, and this one was pretty good. No frills, just meat and rice.

The spicy wantons are solid, though, and I will explain those more below…

However, I can’t help but think that these 2 dishes just shouldn’t be put in a set together. It was carb overload and I waked out with a significant food baby…

Yes, yes, and yes again. Spicy sauce meets big wantons, plenty of meat, and a bit of veg on the side. The sauce was spicy, but if you’re a hot head you may want another spoonful of spice. Conversely, if you’re not that into spice, I do still think you’d be OK with these.

35. 肉燥燙青菜 ($40) Boild veg with meat sauce
Fine, it’s just veg.

Bottom line?

Yeh, I’d go again if I was in the area and wanting something hot. However, 9 times out of 10 I would probably prefer to go for these cold noodles, instead.

Recently moved out to Taiwan and don't know how to order at restaurants? I got you sorted. Can read some characters but still don't quite know what you're ordering? I got you sorted. This site has been developed to help people who can't speak or read Mandarin. I use pinyin, characters and English to talk about food ordering, and how you can do it at specific restaurants. If you like it, then give me a shout! Ash.
