Safe bet &#8211; smaller plates start at $60, and the plates loaded with meat\/fish are at most $120. Clearly, a specialist assigned to this section alone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10104 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/dsc06844.jpg?resize=4000%2C2657&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC06844\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2657\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We picked up a plate of the <strong>wood ear fungus<\/strong>\u00a0(\u6728\u8033) and dug right in. The name isn&#8217;t appealing, I get that, but don&#8217;t write it off based on that. The texture is interesting, the taste is fairly neutral, but the garlic and chilli\u00a0really help the dish become more rounded. Nice to wet the appetite.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10113\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/new.jpg?resize=4000%2C2657&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"New\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2657\" \/>\u00a0Boom! Fill yer boots. They were all delicious, and I wouldn&#8217;t hesitate to order any again. I would perhaps add the sausage next time out of intrigue, too. Usually, when we see tofu skin \u8c46\u76ae (d\u00f2u p\u00ed) on the menu, we give it an order, but I haven&#8217;t had it cut this thin before. I think this is definitely <em>the\u00a0<\/em>way to eat it. That daikon radish in there started life out with white flesh, but it has soaked in all of the flavours of the stock it has been cooked in and just bursts with flavour when you chow down on it. The intestines are delicious, but either a love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing. The pig blood cake is also along those lines. BUT, I would highly recommend trying both!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10103 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1_dsc06867.jpg?resize=4000%2C2657&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC06867\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2657\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Not for the faint-hearted: stinky tofu! <strong>\u8c46\u8150\u5305\u00a0d\u00f2u f\u01d4 b\u0101o.\u00a0<\/strong>A thin and crispy skin encases deliciously soft and creamy tofu inside. This was a triumph, in every sense of the stinkiest of tofu word.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10090 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1_dsc06880.jpg?resize=4000%2C2657&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC06880\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2657\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Perhaps my <strong>favourite<\/strong> dish was this one. Stir-fried vegetables with green onion pancake mixed in. Originating from the earlier days of Taiwan, this dish was created to be tasty and filling for the workers. It really hits the spot!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10097 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/dsc06861.jpg?resize=4000%2C2657&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC06861\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2657\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Whilst this was good, I don&#8217;t think I would order it again, as it is very filling. Strips of thinly cut tofu, stir-fried with onions and chilli. It was tasty but quite heavy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10094 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1_dsc06847.jpg?resize=4000%2C2657&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC06847\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2657\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Drunken chicken &#8211; gotta love it. Soaked in \u7d39\u8208\u9152 (fermented rice wine), goji berries and dates, this chicken is a solid order! There&#8217;s a deep wine flavour going on here with a sweet rice flavour lingering at the back somewhere, too. It is something really interesting and not something we get much of in the west. I&#8217;d definitely recommend this.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10100 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1_dsc06851.jpg?resize=3156%2C2148&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC06851\" width=\"3156\" height=\"2148\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We came here for a birthday celebration, so this monster needed to be ordered ahead of time. We didn&#8217;t figure it was going to be quite <strong><em>this<\/em> <\/strong>big, though.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10092 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/dsc06853.jpg?resize=4000%2C2657&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC06853\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2657\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Filled with tofu, shrimp, a massive fish head, napa cabbage and both meat and fish balls. The tofu was a filler, but the meat and fish balls were definitely noteworthy. The fishballs had a little sweetness to them, and the meatballs were mini versions of \u7345\u5b50\u982d and packed full of meat flavour. The shrimp tasted like they&#8217;d jumped right out of the water and straight into the pot, they were just that fresh.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10096 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/dsc06874.jpg?resize=3451%2C2657&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC06874\" width=\"3451\" height=\"2657\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Look at that fish head lurking in there, though! It&#8217;s basically the size of the pot. If you can pick past the bones and the skin, the meat hiding underneath is more than worth it. It&#8217;s full of flavour, cooked perfectly, and oozing deliciousness throughout the soup base into the pot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Bottom line\u00a0<\/strong>is that we ordered too much for 4 people. But, it allowed us to try a bit of almost everything on the menu. If I have to recommend you 3 things off the menu it would be the\u00a0<strong>stinky tofu<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>braised food side plate<\/strong>, and the\u00a0<strong>stir-fried veggies with green onion pancake<\/strong>.
