There, I said it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">If you check on their <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/%E5%88%A9%E4%BC%91%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E6%96%99%E7%90%86-sushishabu-shabu-465371043988488\/menu\/\" target=\"_blank\">FB<\/a>, you can see their <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/465371043988488\/photos\/p.516963655495893\/516963655495893\" target=\"_blank\">menu<\/a> is beautifully simple. You&#8217;re talking about $1500 for either sushi, or shabu shabu. Both feature fish of varying seasonal varities, and Wagyu beef, too. <br>Surf and Turf porn for the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Sushi &#8211; $1500<br>16 courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_040850076-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12831\"\/><figcaption>seaweed hors d&#8217;oeuvre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Yeh, so seaweed never really did it for me before shipping over from England to the land of Formosa. I don&#8217;t even know if it does it for me now, to be honest, but this was the right amount of sour and salty to get those <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thespruceeats.com\/what-are-hors-doeuvres-995716#:~:text=Hors%20d&#039;oeuvres%20(pronounced%20%22,passed%20on%20trays%20among%20guests.\" target=\"_blank\">tastebuds open<\/a> for what was to come&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_041025628-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12830\"\/><figcaption>plum infused daikon with ginger<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">I didn&#8217;t care for this plum-infused daikon radish as much as I usually do for the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.japantimes.co.jp\/news\/2015\/11\/28\/reference\/sashimi-garnishes\/\" target=\"_blank\">sweet and vinegary daikon<\/a> usually served by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/?s=sushi\" target=\"_blank\">sushi spots<\/a>. But, it still went down easily enough. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1_pxl_20210208_041242842-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12829\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Flounder was the first course up, and it was delicious. The flavour was delicate and the texture allowed a melt-in-the-mouth feel from the outset. That orange dollop on the top isn&#8217;t the fish egg that you think it is, it had a slight chilli flavour. Yes, chilli with nigiri &#8211; a shock to my tastebuds at the time, but tasty, nonetheless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_041714642-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12828\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">We often buy <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.costco.com.tw\/Food\/Frozen-Foods\/Meat-Seafood\/Kirkland-Signature-Frozen-Tilapia-Fillets-2Kg\/p\/1044980\" target=\"_blank\">these <strong>tilapia<\/strong> fillets<\/a> from costco and it&#8217;s a firm favourite of mine in cooked form. I can&#8217;t say as I have had it much in nigiri form, however, it was delicious. Another tick in the right box for a delicious Taipei sushi restaurant. The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/favy-jp.com\/topics\/1797\" target=\"_blank\">yuzu peel<\/a> brushed on top was a delicious kick of citrus that helped the dish come alive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_042048625-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12826\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Japanese sweet <strong>shrimp<\/strong> is hiding underneath that <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sushisushi.co.uk\/products\/tokon-white-kombu-100pcs-150g\" target=\"_blank\">white kombu seaweed<\/a> right there. The seaweed had a delicate flavour that still allowed the shrimp to be the main feature, which allowed this piece of sushi to melt in the mouth without even biting down. Delicious flavours &#8211; one of the stand-out dishes, for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-tiled-gallery aligncenter class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_042441424-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12824\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Hokkaido scallops<\/strong> are prized for their size, sweetness, texture, and overall flavour. So, with wide eyes, I welcomed this beauty on my plate. The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kobejones.com.au\/why-it-takes-a-decade-of-training-to-be-a-head-sushi-chef\/\" target=\"_blank\">Itamae<\/a> made a series of tiny cuts crossways on the scallop, then dabbed it with the house special sauce, and topped it with some dried seaweed. It was delightful, <strong>however<\/strong>, I love scallop so much for its delicate flavour, and this was slightly marred by the fact that a dab of wasabi separating the scallop and the rice was constantly fighting to be the main flavour. The scallop did slightly edge it out in the end, but it was a battle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_042750288-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12823\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">This arrived looking like a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/food\/recipes\/smoked_mackerel_pt_with_36210\" target=\"_blank\">mackerel mousse<\/a> but smelling like a middle eastern market. What the hell was going on in this sushi restaurant?!<br><br><strong>Homemade tofu with nuts <\/strong>&#8211; big win for this sushi house. To the point where I wanted (but pulled out last minute) to ask if they sell it to take out.<br><br>Smooth textures separated by occasional crunches of nut, with an ever silky tofu texture that just melted in your mouth. The creaminess surprised me a lot, too. I really, really enjoyed this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_043517636-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12821\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Get ready, because this was the <strong>best dish of the meal<\/strong>. So this fish is often prized all over Japan as being the best cut of the tuna. Can you guess it? Yep, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sushifaq.com\/sushi-sashimi-info\/sushi-item-profiles\/sushi-items-maguro-tuna\/#:~:text=Tuna%20has%20come%20a%20long,Japan%2C%20and%20the%20world%20around.&amp;text=Chutoro%20(choo%2Dtoh%2Droh,the%20akami%20and%20the%20otoro.\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>blackfin tuna belly<\/strong><\/a> is prized for its fat:flavour ratio. <br><br>Essentially looking like some wagyu beef\/fish hybrid, the fat running through this slice of tuna just melt in your mouth while simultaneously delivering incredible flavours. One of the best things I have ever put in my mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_043929909-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12820\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Mackerel<\/strong> here served with a smidge of freshly ground ginger that just popped in your mouth. Perhaps my least favourite fish dish of the day, here, though. Why? Mackerel has a very distinctive flavour, and I just don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s best suited to sushi&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_044741580-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12819\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Flounder was served up here with some freshly sliced shallot on top. My wife adores this nigiri, and we search for it on menu&#8217;s before we go anywhere to eat sushi. This place didn&#8217;t dissapoint. The <strong>flounder wing<\/strong> has this incredible fat content that melts in your mouth with this oily texture that pops with flavour. Big love for this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_045441273-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12818\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Steamed egg<\/strong> isn&#8217;t my favourite thing in the world &#8211; mainly because it has some hidden fish that impart a lot of flavour into the egg from the bottom of the bowl. This one didn&#8217;t, but it still had an overly fishy flavour that I didn&#8217;t much care for. The texture of the egg was spot on, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_050236098-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12817\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Get ready for uni porn, peeps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_050429513-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12816\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Drool central for the uni buffs among you. To those haters out there &#8211; leave now.<br><br><strong>Uni sandwich<\/strong> presented here with a very generous amount of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uu-hokkaido.com\/hakodate-sea-urchin.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Hokkaido-sourced uni<\/a>. Loved everything about this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_051313360-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12815\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Tempura <strong>corn, mushrooms, and squid<\/strong> were up next. I don&#8217;t often eat tempura anything, so this was a treat. I was shocked at how crispy the batter remained whilst the vegetables inside remained juicy and flavourful. The mushrooms were delicious and that squid was greaaaaat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_051347261-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12814\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Ever had <strong>tempura fried corn<\/strong>? I will definitely be looking for this again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_051711375-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12813\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">I want to say that this is something like a <strong>pilchard, sardine, <\/strong>or even a<strong> mackerel<\/strong>. The whole fish had been poached in a rich broth and then sliced and served to us cold. It was surprisingly delicious. Sweet, salty, fishy, and full of that <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.umamiinfo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">umami flavour<\/a> that we all search for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_052627725-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12812\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>WAGYU beef<\/strong> as well?! What kind of sushi restaurant is this!<br><br>Flash fried wagyu beef with an egg yolk on top, served over rice with this incredible soy based sauce with delicate onions. Oh wow, this was unreal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_053123528-1.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12811\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Miso is often served at the end of the main meal at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/livejapan.com\/en\/in-tokyo\/in-pref-tokyo\/in-asakusa\/article-a0002713\/\" target=\"_blank\">sushi omakase<\/a>. It wasn&#8217;t the strong salty flavour that can often overpower miso. It was good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1742\" height=\"2169\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/eatingintaipei.com\/staging\/5148\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/pxl_20210208_053738952-1.jpg?resize=1742%2C2169&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12810\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Panna cotta-style pudding here with some brown sugar syrup on top was a delightful way to end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">I can&#8217;t recommend this place enough.
