This area is a fairly popular area in Taipei right near URBN culture and also Whalen’s, Carniegie’s and the ever popular TongHua Nightmarket.
It’s a modest place, with no frills needed or given.
I really enjoy menu’s like this: Not too big, straight to the point.
What we ordered:
Steamed pork soup dumplings
xiān ròu xiǎo lóng bāo
I can’t believe these are only $60?! You get 8 of them in your bamboo steamer.
The skin is most definitely thicker than the DingTaiFeng steamed soup dumplings, but these still taste delicious.
Crunchy curry pot sticker dumplings
cuì pí huáng jingā lī 1 tāng bāo
How appealing does that crunchy base look?
Basically the same thing as the steamed soup dumplings, but these ones are fried with a crunchy skin on the bottom (and with a curry filling). The curry is mild but imparts a nice fragrant flavour. They are so rewarding to crunch apart.
Recently moved out to Taiwan and don't know how to order at restaurants? I got you sorted. Can read some characters but still don't quite know what you're ordering? I got you sorted.
This site has been developed to help people who can't speak or read Mandarin. I use pinyin, characters and English to talk about food ordering, and how you can do it at specific restaurants.
If you like it, then give me a shout!
