Ah Hui Stir Fry (阿輝現炒黃牛肉) is a must-visit stir-fry restaurant near Nanjichang Night Market in Taipei’s Zhongzheng District, known best for its expertly prepared beef dishes. The menu features everything from satay sauce stir-fried beef and black pepper to scallion and ginger-flavoured options. Beyond stir-fries, the restaurant also offers an impressive selection of beef offal, including tongue, heart, liver, and tripe, for those looking to explore more adventurous cuts – which you always should be!
With its hearty portions and bold flavours, this spot has gained a reputation among locals as a go-to place for comforting, wok-fried delights. But as it is located right near Nanjichang Night Market (one of my favourite Taipei Night Markets, actually!), tourists have begun to check it out more recently, too.
The restaurant’s stir-fry dishes are packed with rich, aromatic flavours, perfectly complemented by fresh vegetables but it’s the tender beef and the fragrant, umami-rich sauces that deliver the killer punch. Other highlights include the basil omelette, bursting with herbal aroma, and the beef fried noodles, which deliver a deeply satisfying bite when enjoyed fresh. The beef offal noodle soup is another favourite, offering a light yet flavorful broth with generously portioned ingredients. Check out below for what we ordered on our most recent visit after being only half full on night market food.

Split into 7 sections, the menu from left to right, top to bottom is as follows:
- 現炒類Stir-Fried food
- 蛋類Egg-related food
- 青菜類Vegetables
- 蓋飯類Meat-topped rice
- 麵類Noodles

Of course, we had to get a full spread of food to look all beautiful in the pictures. Don't be fooled - this was for 2 people. We finished it all, with not one single crumb left remaining.
Klook.comStir-fried Beef Tongue
醬爆牛舌 - jiàng bào niú shé

The stir-fried beef tongue came looking all glistening and inviting, with some incredible smells. Stir-fried to wok hey perfection with sweet onions, chilli, and some delicious garlic, then dressed with green onions, this beef tongue was great. It was nicely chewy but still held that delicate nature that beef tongue has, while still giving plenty of beef flavour.

There was plenty of tongue up in this wonderful plate at Ah Hui Stir Fry, and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. It was mildly spiced, but not overpoweringly so. The flavours balanced nicely and went lovely with a bowl of steaming rice. While you could tell this was beef, the tongue wasn't overpowering with beef flavour, yet was more delicate. I was expecting/hoping that they would be chunks of tongue, but perhaps that was me in my naivety...
Stir-fried beef with Green Onions
蔥爆牛肉 - cōng bào niú ròu

Delicious chunks of beef were littered among green onion, sweet white onion, and chilli in this delightful stir-fried beef with green onions at Ah Hui Stir Fry. If you finish up walking around the amazing Nanjichang Night Market and still find yourself hungry, then a plate of this awesome stir-fried beef and green onions with some of that basil omelette below will sort you right out.
Chewy, succulent, juicy, salty, beefy. That's all the flavours that I want in a mouthful, and this didn't disappoint. Everything tasted fresh, and I was happy to have ordered it.
Basil Omelette
九層塔蛋 - jiǔ céng tǎ dàn

Ordinarily, I wouldn't order an omelette in a restaurant, least of all in a stir-fry restaurant specialising in beef. However, we saw a table next to us eating it as we sat down to order, and the smell of basil found its way through our nostrils and into our brain and was banging on the menu to be ordered.
There were handfuls of basil thrown at this omelette, but there was still plenty of eggy flavour. It was nicely seasoned, and the egg was top-drawer.

Fluffy, juicy, perfectly cooked omelette with a little bit of that previously mentioned wok hey to boot. I enjoyed this omelette, and if anything, it has taught me not to doubt when I see an omelette on a menu at a stir-fry restaurant in the future.
Offal Soup
牛雜湯 - niú zá tāng

I understand how offal sounds unappealing at first. However, it becomes less unappealing when you explain that it refers to the entrails and internal organs of an animal used as food. I implore you to order it and give it a go. You'll find a variety of chewy meat of various textures that will intrigue you. The flavours are quite delicate and muted, with nothing giving off a heavy flavour at all. There's some stomach in here that is wonderfully cooked to delicate perfection, and that in itself makes this worth ordering.
The Bottom Line
Is it worth it? Ah Hui Stir Fry just outside of the popular Nanjichang night market is a great place to go if you haven't found any night market food to satisfy your hunger. Due to the relative inconvenience of the location, it strikes me less as a destination restaurant, and more of a happy convenience should you find yourself at the wonderful Nanjichang Taipei night market.
What is the best dish? The best dish was probably the Stir-fried beef with Green Onions. Simple in its delivery and ingredients, yet packing a delicious punch with flavours. The basil omelette was also top quality.
Are there other places like this? There are plenty of restaurants serving up delicious stir-fry all over the city. Not many specialise in beef, though. That's where Ah Hui Stir Fry really comes into its own.
