Sourdough pizza by the slice right here at @thesli Sourdough pizza by the slice right here at @theslice.shop is nothing short of fantastic.

The flavour combos, the thin sourdough base, and the quality ingredients make it stand out above all other places offering pizza by the slice in Taipei.

They have a bunch of different flavours since my original article was published, so I had to go there and update the post.

If you love it, like it.

Stinky tofu often divides people, both in taste an Stinky tofu often divides people, both in taste and in public settings.

My first experience was at the Shida Night Market in 2013. I remember wandering through the bustling alleyways of the night market, completely captivated by the strange and wonderful stalls that lined the streets.

As I walked along, I suddenly caught a whiff of a stench that I initially thought was coming from a garbage truck. My curiosity got the better of me, though, and I decided to investigate. I followed the smell to a small street vendor who was deep-frying something that smelled quite unpleasant. Despite the odour, I couldn't resist the temptation to try it.

I disliked it. In fact, I think I finished half a cube of that crispy, rancid-smelling tofu that night, and threw the rest away.

As the years went by, I continued to try it at the behest of friends and family and ended up enjoying the taste. I still struggle with the steamed kind, and sometimes the stinky tofu pictured can have a much stronger smell than the deep-fried one, but I'll always try it out.

My question to you is - To stinky tofu, or not to stinky tofu?

There's nothing I take pleasure in more on a hot afternoon than sinking my chops into a big bowl of shaved ice.

When it's liberally doused in matcha tea, encasing matcha tea jelly, red beans, accompanied by glutinous rice balls, and finally topped with a flametorched creme brulee, there's nothing much else I can say.

Top quality 🍧

Looking for a refreshing dessert spot in Taipei? 榕美樹館 (Ron Meishu Guan) offers a delightful take on traditional tofu pudding (豆花), blending classic flavours with a modern twist.

Located just a brief walk from Shuanglian MRT Station, this cosy café serves up silky tofu pudding topped with an array of handcrafted toppings like chewy taro balls, grass jelly, and seasonal fruits.

I like this spot especially for the commitment to seasonal produce. It shows a respect and understanding for the food that they use, and they promote fresh Taiwanese produce every step of the way.

Whether you're a fan of traditional Taiwanese desserts or looking to try something new, 榕美樹館 is a must-visit. Tag your dessert-loving friends and plan your visit! 🍧✨

A big bowl of grass jelly in this hot weather is a A big bowl of grass jelly in this hot weather is a great shout. The fresh, minty flavour mixed in with the shaved ice hiding below is the perfect summer cooler.

The addition of sweet potato and taro chewy balls adds a little flavour with lots of texture, and I always feel satisfied after finishing the bowl.

This was a great place in Longtan, but you can find these dotted all over Taiwan.

If you're like me, you're invariably looking for y If you're like me, you're invariably looking for your next bowl of Pho at any given moment 🍜

You should head over to Vietnamese Cing Hua Pho near National Taiwan University for a bowl of heartwarming pho to warm your soul!

I love their chicken and their beef with tomato Pho. The rich yet light tomato broth, tender meat, and nicely cooked noodles hit the spot every time.

Their Banh Mi is also worth a shot. Dip it right on in that tomato-based pho for extra umami-ness.
