KangLe Street Beef Soup
KangLe Street Beef Soup may not be one of the most well-known beef soup shops in Tainan, however, it has a certain appeal to it based on the fact that you can see the owner chopping beef outside.

Beef Soup – 牛肉湯 (niú ròu tāng) – is the order of the day, here. However, at $180 per big bowl, it doesn’t come cheap.
We ordered a bowl of the Beef Soup ($180), and also a side of Stir Fried Beef (生炒牛肉 shēng chǎo niúròu $140).
The stir fried beef was done in a Sacha sauce (沙茶醬), which imparts a nice saltiness and garlic flavour to the beef, with some fresh crunchy leaves. I liked this a lot.
However, the beef soup didn’t do it for me. The broth had a very strong carrot flavour. Now, I am not a hater of carrots. But, the taste was too overpowering at KangLe Street Beef Soup. I appreciate a beefy broth more, personally. The beef itself was pretty good, though, so if you like a vegetable broth then you’re looking at a solid choice. However, if you’re looking for a more beefy broth, then I would say give 文章牛肉湯 a shout, instead.
