The fresh, minty flavour mixed in with the shaved ice hiding below is the perfect summer cooler. The addition of sweet potato and taro chewy balls adds a little flavour with lots of texture, and I always feel satisfied after finishing the bowl. This was a great place in Longtan, but you can find these dotted all over Taiwan. Homemade, thin scallion pancakes are dry pan-fried and cut into slices; they are then served with this sticky, salty, juicy pork 🐖 You're encouraged to wrap that pork in the pancake just as you would Beijing duck. Surely you can guess just how good this tastes? 🤤 We ordered it a few weeks back when the cold snap hit Taipei as an additional dish to a huge pot of chicken soup, and it was the perfect accompaniment. It's been quite a journey so far 👨‍🍳 Here are some recent pictures of the sourdough bread I made using rye flour, white flour, and my year-old starter. If this experience has taught me anything, it's to respect breadmaking as an art form. The bakeries around Taipei that produce delicious sourdough bread should be respected and championed for doing so.
