Now, S-ding Sushi isn’t the most accessible place by MRT, however: Ubike will get you from the MRT pretty easily!
There’s plenty of roomy seating inside.
This menu at S-ding Sushi is quite confusing, but I will outline exactly what we ordered.
You can see the sushi selection pretty well, here. Look at the plentiful Uni on the far left – yummmmm!
Here’s what we ordered at S-ding Sushi :
1. 綜合握壽司 (生食) zòng hé wò shòu sī (shēng shí) Mixed Nigiri $220
2. 起司可樂餅 qǐ sī kě lè bǐng Cheese Potato cake $130
3. 蝦頭味噌湯 xiā tóu wèi cēng tāng Shrimp head miso soup $50
4. 馬糞海膽手捲 mǎ fèn hǎi dǎn shǒu juǎn Uni sushi roll $280
5. 毛毛蟲 máo máo chóng Caterpillar $270
6. 干貝串 gān bèi chuàn Scallop $180
1. 綜合握壽司 (生食) hé zòng wò shòu sī (shēng shí) Mixed Nigiri $220
Here we have a good selection of fresh nigiri (fish on rice) at S-ding Sushi, with a nice amount of ginger and also wasabi paste.
Each of the pieces tasted wonderfully fresh and fantastically paired with either caviar, green onion and all with a small amount of wasabi under the fish.
2. 起司可樂餅 qǐ sī kě lè bǐng Cheese Potato cake $130
Another Japanese wonder is the Deep fried potato cake. Not tried it before? Get out there and get you some!
Mashed potato mixed with cheese and deep fried until amazingly crispy with very little grease. Dip this in the above tomato vinegar sauce and you will be content for hours, if not days.
3. 蝦頭味噌湯 xiā tóu wèi cēng tāng Shrimp head soup $50
Actually, I am not 100% sure why I ordered the shrimp head Miso. I guess I was feeling more adventurous… Some people like to suck the shrimp head and eat the brain etc, therefore this time, I gave it a go, too. Taste wise, it was just OK. Once you get over the initial thought of sucking out the shrimp brain, you will get a strong tomato flavour mixed with a delicate fish flavour. I won’t rush back for it, but I would try it again if it was put in front of me.
4. 馬糞海膽手捲 mǎ fèn hǎi dǎn shǒu juǎn Uni sushi roll $280
I apologise for the quality of this picture: I just couldn’t wait much longer. Behind is the uni as a base ingredient, in front is how it is presented as a sushi roll: delicious, fresh, creamy, crunchy and very tasty, indeed.
5. 毛毛蟲 máo máo chóng Caterpillar $270
So, it’s called caterpillar but I can say (having not tried caterpillar, so correct me if I am wrong) that this is much better than caterpillar!
A huge sushi roll filled with cheese, cucumber, egg and topped with a thick slice of salmon. The caterpillar is an absolute must when you go to S-ding Sushi !
6. 大干貝 dà gān bèi Scallop $180
Scallop is a personal favourite of mine and this one gets my seal of approval.
Meaty, silky smooth, thick and delicate. The textures matched the flavours wonderfully well.
It is also presented very well with finely sliced Daikon radish, seaweed, lemon slices and wasabi.
Overall, I really enjoyed my meal at S-ding Sushi. I have to say that the caterpillar was a personal favourite for me as I haven’t had a sushi roll with cheese inside it before, nor a sushi roll topped with salmon! The atmosphere is lively and busy inside the restaurant and, overall, I think the food is wonderfully fresh and of a high quality.
Best dish at S-ding Sushi: 5. 毛毛蟲 máo máo chóng Caterpillar $270
Dish I wouldn’t order again: 3. 蝦頭味噌湯 xiā tóu wèi cēng tāng Shrimp head soup $50
